Richard L. Anderson, OD
Dr. Anderson, O.D. is a board certified optometrist with a special interest in the control of myopia (nearsightedness) and specialized contact lenses such as scleral lenses for keratoconus. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC), has lectured to international audiences on the subject of myopia, and has published papers on the various techniques available for doctors to treat myopia progression so that children can be better protected against many sight threatening diseases throughout their life.
He fit his first orthokeratology (OrthoK) lens patient 25 years ago. He has been distinguished by being named a Fellow of the Orthokeratology Academy of America (FOAA), an honor earned after fitting hundreds of OrthoK patients followed by an extensive oral and written exam. He is the only FAAOMC orthokeratologist in Ventura County and Santa Barbara County.
He regularly advises other OrthoK providers and has had his advice incorporated into the online documentation of a major OrthoK lens manufacturer (Wave Contact Lens System).
Dr. Anderson began his practice as Camarillo Optometry in 1984. In 2019 he merged his practice with A Street Optometric Center in Oxnard and now is exclusively seeing patients at that location. He has served as president of the Tri County Optometric Society. He graduated with honors from the Southern California College of Optometry. His undergraduate studies were at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
He is a Paul Harris Fellow with the Camarillo Rotary Club after many years of service and also served as a Board member of the Camarillo Boys and Girls Club for several years.
